My chosen question for this exam is numbers. We are unaware of how many numbers there are in every day life and experimenting with this question has really opened my eyes.
I am interested in creating still life images that show the numbers we may be unaware of.
I explored the work of a photographer called Chris Jordan who took large scale abstract images of a certain amount of objects that he wanted to represent; e.g. 1.2 million building blocks to represent the number of students who dropped out of school. I found his work unique as I had never seen something like this before, so I wish to use his techniques as inspiration for my work. I shall do this by deciding on themes that link to numbers, and then photograph objects that represent it. For example, the themes I have thought of are bingo numbers, zodiac signs, nursery rhymes and phrases such as 1st the worst, 2nd the best.
